Are you a teacher of students ages eleven and up? We need to talk! Hybrid is a great scary novel to add to your teaching curriculum. Hybrid is written in the first person narration. The characters are aged sixteen and attend High School. They are smart, studious students and stay out of trouble. No sex, drugs, or inappropriate language is included. I am in the process of divising lesson plans for each grade. While there is some vampire violence, it is not overly graphic and there are only a few scenes included. First and foremost, Hybrid is about a young girl dealing with the death of her four year old sister. Suicide, depression, and grief are prevalent themes in Hybrid. This is an appropriate book for grades fifth and up. Also, references to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet are included. If you are interested in using Hybrid in your curriculum, let me know.
